Business in Delhi City
We do receive feedback once in a
while about different businesses who perform at a level less than expected.
Given below is such a list. If you find other such organizations, please do
write in to us so that others
get to know.
Car Rental
- Eco-Rent-a-Car - "...Supposedly one of Delhi's premier rental
car agencies. All their self drive cars are in pathetic condition. I had
booked a car for a month. Had to change cars twice in a week. One of their
cars, broke down in the middle of rush hour traffic and I had to shell out
money to get it repaired after having to push it for a kilometer. Eco
refused to reimburse me the amount that I spent on repair. I was left with
no choice and had enough of these guys, so I returned their car. They had
run my credit card through Citibank and had blocked all the rental fees in
advance and never released it even after many reminders on phone and on
email. Besides, there was enough amount of rudeness and lack of courtesy
that I had to face from these guys..." - Suhas Dutta.
MORE: have received phone calls and emails from Preeti Loomba (of
eco-rent-a-car) requesting us to remove this report and assured that the
above was a one off incident and they are happy for me to try out another
one of their cars complimentary etc. So, if you happen to use Eco's
service, would be great if you could write in to us and let us know what
you feel.
- PLANET INDIA@VSNL.COM kISHAN SOOD... Also had booked a sumo
FROM uk to go to haridwar with my dads ashes direct from the airport the
sumo was old kept breakingdown left delhi at 12noon got to haridwar at 7pm
had to push start the car several times then found the driver going thru
our suitcases while we were doing puja by the river..." - Raj Pancholi,
UK.
Hotels
- Ajanta Hotel - "... I just wanted to let you know that we have
been totally disatisfied by the Hotel AJANTA in Delhi,... We were supposed
to receive a double room deluxe with AC and with a refrigerator for 20
dollars. They were also supposed to pick us at the airport. First of all,
they never came to the airport as promised (despite the fact that we had
previously exchanged a few email messages in order to arrange our stay
with them). When we arrived in the hotel by taxi, they didn't seem to have
taken our reservation into account. Secondly, the room provided was not
the one we were supposed to get. It was dirty, without any window, without
any refrigirator. This was absolutely not a deluxe room. The day after,
they promised us to change the room but when we came back at night they
had given the new room that we were supposed to get to another customer.
The service was bad and the staff unfriendly (probably because they
understood that we were angry)." - Alexia Autenne, Brussels.
- Hotel Raja - "Hotel raja,we booked two rooms from uk and the
pictures looked good, but when we got there firstly the area seemed
definitely a no go area for tourist and the hotel lobby was cool but the
rooms were unkept and there was no lift we were allocated rooms on the
fourth floor and building work was going on and this was at 8pm so we
didn't check in and the taxi driver would not take us to connaght area but
kept going round other hotels and insisted we check them out for 2hrs he
kept us in the end we went to the kaniska. the taxi driver was trying to
earn his commision but i think that we as fare paying costomers he should
take us where we want to go....
We had cargoed two suitcases old old clothes to give at the haridwar but
the customs at cargo would not release them in time for us even though we
had all the documents.A travel agent said he will get them released paid
him 3000/- and £50. ten dfays later the old worthless clothes were still
in the cargo hold at customs It had cost us £110.to cargo we should have
just given them to a charity here came back to uk.with a bad experince of
delhi and there scroungers.
ps left the suitcases and dont really care what happened to them" - Raj
Pancholi, UK.
Restaurants and Pubs
- Berco's Restaurant in Connaught Place - "Indifferent and
uncourteous service, waiters are ill mannered, bad food, very noisy."
- Moet's in Gurgaon "...Saw your page on bad businesses in Delhi
and the reference to Moets Def Col. If Mohan thought that was bad, he
should try the new Moets "pub n Restaurant" near rail vihar, Huda colony
in secotor 15 Gurgaon!
Being new, sleeze had not yet completely taken over, but was more than
amply compensated by staff with attitude, and a Manager, (Vinay Kumar or
something) who should be talking to Dawood Ibrahim for a job.
Attracted by the word "pub" we walked in the other afternoon for a beer,
and were offered two brands of bottled beer, both of which they had
probably stacked up with when they first opened up. We had to turn both
back, as they were totally flat, but a flactotum for the manager came by
later to insist we drink it, because according to him they were tested,
and found OK !!!!! Take a lesson in frigging generating bubbles in a
bottle of beer by shaking it vigorously!!!!
We, of course refused, but wait till you hear our shock when we got the
bill. We had to jolly well pay for the flat beer, on fear of being
physically attacked!!!!!
Talk about a business with a death-wish." -

- Moet's in Defence Colony - "indifferent service, found rats in
the eating area. Wonder what the kitchen is like."
- Moet's in Defence Colony - "A friend and I attempted to have a
snack at Moets, Def Col today and guess what - the vegetarian seekh kabab
we ate had a complete brass screw hidden in it. My friend almost got it
lodged in his throat, but miraculously managed to extricate it. A
complaint only brought a head waiter to us. The Manager was "missing" and
after our insistence to speak to someone responsible, all we got was the
visiting card of an Asst. Manager (God help us), who was not available on
phone. Less said the better about how they treat customers at a supposedly
'cool' place like Moets. -Mohan

- Garden Restaurant at Lodhi Gardens - "I along with my wife went
to "Lodi - The Garden Restaurant" during my recent visit to Delhi. It is
on the Lodhi Road, just outside the Lodi Garden. We ordered mint tea.
After 15 minutes, the waiter informed us that the 'machine was out of
order". We changed our order to Coffee. After another 6-7 minutes, another
waiter came and informed us that "coffee making machine" was also faulty.
We then requested him to bring Sweet Lime (Mousambi) Juice. It was served
after another 15 minutes. He just brought the glasses in his hands,
without a tray. The juice was luke warm. A few flies were seen hovering
around the tables. We finished our juice quitely and left after paying the
bill, a hefty Rs. 150/- for two glasses of Mousambi Juice !" -
